The shotgun is a powerful weapon, able to kill a person with one shot, but has a very short firing range. The weapon also has a poor reloading speed, poorer than the Shotgun itself making it a terrible weapon to use. The shotgun is able to blow up a vehicle with only 2 shots, which only varies on how far away the player is from the vehicle. At close range, its able to take out an armored opponent such as
GTA VC HUD Icon of the Subby Shotgun.
a SWAT officer or an FBI agent. Due to its short length and short firing range, the gun probably won't be able to take out someone from across the street.
The stubby shotgun that is featured in GTA Vice City and GTA Liberty City Stories is likely based off of an Ithaca 37 'Stakeout' and Serbu Super Shorty while the Vice City Stories rendition is based off of a sawn-off Mossberg 500. The GTA Chinatown Wars varient is rendered to be a Sawn-Off Shotgun according to the HUD Icon.
