Firefighter is an optional side mission in the Grand Theft Auto series, which the player can compete at their own desire. The mission can be activated by entering a Fire Truck and toggling the mission button.
The objective of the mission is that the player needs to find and extinguish fire buring vehicles within a time limit. If the player fails to do so, the mission will be failed.
From Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and onwords, the levels become harder as the player will have to chase after burning vehicles that are still driving around, or multiple burining vehicles and their occupants, all which must be extinguished within the time limit. One big problem in the mission is that after a vehicle has been extinguished, their occupants will exit the vehicle and start running in all directions, while burning. The player will then have to chase after the victims and put out the fires, without killing any of them, which will result im mission failure.
In GTA Vice City Stories, the mission works a little different. If the player accidently kills a burning victim, only some seconds on the time will be taken off rather than resulting in mission failure. Leaving the fire truck brings up a time limit that tells the player to return to a fire truck before the mission ends.
The rewards vary in both games:
- After completing Level 12, the player will become fireproof.
- After completing Level 15, the player will become fireproof.
Completing this mission also brings the player a step closer to 100% Completion.
