The PSG-1 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that is based off of the real-life sniper rifle of the same name. It was designed and manufactured by Heckler & Koch in Germany, the same producers of the MP5. It comes equiped with a telescopic sight and red laser point sight. Unlike the Sniper Rifle, the player is able to shoot seven bullets before the gun needs reloading.
The rifle was first featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and can also be purchased and used in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. In the PS2 version of Vice City, the rifle is labled as the PSG-1, but in other versions, its labled as the .308 Sniper. In Liberty City Stories, the rifle is always labled as the Laser Sighted Sniper Rifle. Since the rifle didn't appear since 1986, its replaced in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories by a rifle called the Dragunov (SDV-1) to fit the game's year setting 1984.
In other Grand Theft Auto games, the rifle also has a different name. For example, in Grand Theft Auto IV, the rifle is called the Combat Sniper.
